With 20% of the web running on WordPress, it's no surprise when a prospective client contacts you for Wordpress site development. As of Feb, 2014 WordPress version 3.8 downloads passed the 20 million mark.
Join Girl Develop It for an introductory look into all things WordPress. We will show you the basics of how to create a WordPress website by customizing it to fit your needs. We'll learn about Themes, Plugins and Widgets and how to spot a good or bad one. We will publish posts and learn about the types of content we can publish. Most importantly, our instructor and TA's will be here to answer any questions you may have along the way. You'll leave with an understanding of the basics and an ability to publish your own WordPress site.
This class is a 2-day series running on Saturdays, October 18th and October 25th, 9am - 1pm each day. The cost covers both days.

About our WordPress Teacher:
Jenny Stoffel has loved computing since the days of Sierra games and mastering Logo, and has been creating websites in one form or another since 1999, when she built her first html site for fun while an undergrad at Bryn Mawr College. While she was pursuing a PhD in German literature at UW Seattle, she created websites for the courses she taught - and found that the real-world applications and impact made possible via website development provided the daily challenge and continued learning on the cutting-edge of technology she craved. Following a few years as an IT systems administrator and helpdesk for a Portland wind turbine manufacturer, In 2009 she went into business as a full-stack front-end freelance website developer. Her website development company, which has completed more than 50 significant projects, is called Wired Pinecone. In her free time she loves to get outdoors into Oregon’s many and varied natural spaces, and sometimes leads groups of young and not-so-young women on hiking and backpacking trips. She is excited to share the joys and sense of accomplishment in building WordPress sites with more women and to help them get the tools to develop a unique web presence.
