GDI SF Newsletter: Inspire Teenagers, Practice Public Speaking, Hack on Hardware, and more...

Hi all -

As you noticed, we’ve started to announce our fall workshops, and there’ll be more announcements in the next week as we solidify a few more venues. If any of you work for companies that want to host us (especially weekend workshops), let us know.

Want to learn to make iOS apps? There’s a new online immersion course called Code Coalition, and it’s only $125. If you enroll, let us know how it goes!

MotherCoders is a new tech orientation program geared just at mothers. Learn more here.

Want to inspire teenagers to program? Help out at the “Level The Coding Field” hackathon, Oct. 26-27 and Nov. 16-17. Learn more here, scroll down to apply to be a volunteer.

You can also donate to the Bocoup Science Club for Girls, to help them raise money for laptops.

If you have a female teenager in high school interested in computing, she may be eligible for a NCWIT award. Learn more here.

If any of you are looking to share the knowledge you’ve acquired and speak at conferences (it’s fun!), you should follow CallbackWomen on Twitter for announcements of CFPS (call for proposals). Carina is also hosting a one-day workshop on public speaking on October 5th. On that note, the CFP for FluentConf closes tomorrow night.

One of our members is looking to work with a Ruby on Rails/HTML5/CSS3 developer who could help me get her MVP completed. Contact [address removed] to learn more.

Hope to see a bunch of you at next weekend’s Silicon Chef Hardware Hackathon!
