GDI SF Newsletter: Our UX workshop in SF, AdaLovelace Day coming up!

From: Pamela

Hi all -

Emailing from Guatemala today, where I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many local women engineers. :-)

We found a more convenient SF location for our Intro to Designing User Experiences workshop next Saturday, thanks to Yammer. That workshop is a jam-packed day of learning and hands on group work, I highly recommend it!

We also still have spaces in our CSS and JS workshops. If you’ve attended GDI workshops in the past and enjoyed them, please spread the word so that we can fill up the spots and make sure we’re teaching as many women as possible.

The annual Ada Lovelace Day is coming up on October 15th, a day when we celebrate women in science and technology. The goal is to get as many blog posts as possible about people’s heroines in STEM, to spread awareness of female role models. So, if you have a moment, write a post about a women that inspires you, submit it to the collection, and hashtag it #adalovelaceday. (I’ve written about my mum and my colleagues, in the past).

If you know a high school girl interested in technology, the NCWIT Aspirations awards are now open for applications.

Want to get paid to work in open source? Check out the Gnome scholarship, $5000 stipend.
