Ways for Young Girls to Learn

Despite our name, our events are geared for women 18+, and for legal reasons, we cannot accept younger women into our event.

Fortunately, however, there are other opportunities for young girls to learn programming and technology generally in the bay area:

  • GirlsWhoCode: A global program with summer programs in San Francisco
  • TechBridge: An Oakland-based program to get girls involved in tech
  • CoderDojo: A global organization that puts on free coding workshops for kid. There's also a very active Silicon Valley chapter.
  • BlackGirlsCode: Specifically aimed at teaching young women in color how to code, they put on weekend workshops on programming and web development.
  • CodeEd: Specifically targeting girls from underserved communities, it teaches web development skills.
  • WizBots: Using LEGO robotics to encourage kids in math and science.
  • Eureka: A program for teenage girls to get into math and science.

You can also encourage them to learn online, like on Khan Academy, or via the resources in this blog post about getting kids into programming.
