This looks like a long email, but it reads in four bitesize chunks. Perfect for a Friday afternoon. Pictures too.

Hey ladies (and gentlemen),

Helloooo Friday!

So…. item 1 on our agenda, the notes from last month's event on Accessibility….

(And please see our excellent guest post from Diane Bégin here)

We've included a few links from Martin Courcelles below and I'll see if we can get copies of the presentations (Sandy & Maureen) on Slideshare. Bear with us on this, but feel free to nag me if these presentations aren't online by 19th November.

You can also follow Martin here:

Also (!) don't miss Accessibility Camp on Saturday 17th November!

Moving on to Item 2… we need a heroine!

Growth is good and we now have this fantastic network/community of almost 1000 women (and a few guys) and you're supportive, interactive and it's awesome …  and as we continue to get bigger, we're becoming ever so slightly stretched on resource.

We wrote a bit more about this on our blog, behold a helpful link!

And finally item 3 - presenting Angelhack! Woo hoo!

Massive hackathon comes to Canada! Epic. Huge. Battlestar Galactica-esque.

AngelHack, the world’s largest hackathon, is coming to Toronto December 1st - 2nd, 2012. Connect with a couple hundred of Toronto's finest devs in a massive 24-hour coding competition involving 2,500+ hackers in 11 major cities around the globe. Over $650,000+ in prizes to be won and top teams are flown to Silicon Valley to showcase their hacks to major investors and media. Space is limited! AngelHack Toronto ( is organized by the same team that runs the Hackernest Tech Socials (,, Toronto’s largest and most active monthly technology meetup.

We have 10 tickets available with a 30% discount. Starting from today and available until 18th November. Reference "30offGirlGeeks" - first come, first served!

And if that wasn't sufficiently awesomelicious, we have another two tickets to giveaway at our "Discussion Night (Vexed in the City)" on Monday 19th November AND will be giving away another two tickets on Twitter.

So, come on ladies, don't be shy, step forward! And if you're not sure whether you want to get involved, please feel free to email us any questions and we'll try and connect nervous ladies with each other and work out some practical support where possible!

Tickets & Info:

Actually we lied, the last item wasn't the final item. We also want to do a shout out for Interaxon's Indiegogo pledge for Muse production funding.

You may have heard Ariel and Sina talk about some of the work Interaxon is doing on mind control at our Quantified Self event. We're totally behind them and want to do what we can to get them the remaining funding. Even if you can't afford a Muse headband right now, get your partner / husband / parent / sibling / friend / company to buy you one for Christmas (and receive it next year) and we can dedicate a Girl Geeks evening in 2013 to playing with Muse - perhaps even a Muse hackathon?!

Please do what you can to support our women in tech:

Have a great weekend. I've signed up for the Dames Making Games incubator - so feel free to ask me about this next time we meet!

Exciting times!

Ps: Please reach out if there's anything you'd like us to raise at our next event.
