• What we'll do
Why do so many women feel uncomfortable advocating for themselves? Gender stereotypes play a role. Many women are afraid to speak up and advocate for themselves in fear of being seen as aggressive or overly confident. Women also tend to suffer from self-doubt and impostor syndrome – making them more likely to underestimate the value they bring.
Studies have shown that:
• 66 percent of women received negative feedback on their personal style in performance reviews, such as “You can sometimes be abrasive,” compared to less than 1 percent of men.
• Men apply for jobs when they meet 60 percent of the hiring criteria, while women wait until we meet 100 percent.
Give Glow - A community for women to discover their self-worth, invites special guest Mira Lane - Head of Design & Ethics for AI division of Microsoft, to share how she advocated for herself and navigated her career from Program Manager to Partner Director at Microsoft.
After the candid interview with Mira, we will apply our inspirations from the talk, engage with one another, and create personal action plans that enhance our advocacy at work.
