THE TECH ON TAP TALK:
Virtual reality is speeding up progress across multiple disciplines, from how we enjoy media to how we buy a home. The talk will feature Jeffrey Travis, founder and CEO of Positron, a VR company, and Michael Katseli, founder of xMod, a VR simulation studio. The speakers will answer questions such as:
• How are brands and studios partnering to use VR to shape storytelling?
• What is VR’s potential to transform industries and common industry practices, like real estate and architecture?
• What is the future of VR?
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Jeffrey Travis is an engineer, filmmaker, and VR pioneer. He is the founder and CEO of Positron, a VR company. Jeffrey is the creator and inventor of Voyager®, the world’s first full-motion haptic virtual reality chair. He and his team work with studios such as Universal, Dreamworks, Disney, Warner Bros, Adult Swim, Felix & Paul, and Technicolor to craft premium VR content for the Voyager platform. His Voyager VR chair has been requested to exhibit premium VR experiences for luminaries such as Steven Spielberg, Steven Soderbergh, and Robert De Niro. Recently, Dreamworks Animation and Walmart partnered to create the "How to Train Your Dragon" VR experience with Positron.
Prior to Positron, Jeffrey worked as an independent filmmaker. Jeffrey is the writer/director of several award-winning films. He is a producer on the first VR film made specifically for Voyager, Shady Friend, starring “Weird Al” Yankovic. Jeffrey is passionate about elevating and transforming storytelling through technology .
Michael Katseli is the founder of xMod (previously named Intvisco), a VR simulation studio. xMod creates complex simulations for clients including high tech companies, architects, and real estate agencies. The studio has been developing its own API, NetVRk, for the past two years, based on a prototype of VR goggles developed by Michael in 2013.
Prior to this, Michael was leading and co-founding software development startups in the fields of mobile applications to 3D simulations, engineering and Augmented and Virtual Reality.

ABOUT HTC VIVE: The HTC Vive is a virtual reality headset developed by HTC and Valve Corporation. The headset uses "room scale" tracking technology, allowing the user to move in 3D space and use motion-tracked handheld controllers to interact with the environment.
