GCH Labor Day Weekend Potluck!

GCH is coming back from its summer hiatus with a nice get-together on Labor Day Weekend! It's a potluck at Bill and Brenda's home in Glassboro. Bring a dish to share, we'll have friendship and conversation. Kids welcome. We'll be discussing our group's future plans, including our next visit to Fairton Prison and our December HumanLight celebration. Join us!

Coming from Philadelphia or Camden County? The NJ Transit bus 408 runs from 6th & Race, up Market, through South Jersey to Glassboro every hour. If you take the 408 to Glassboro, someone can come from Bill's to pick you up at the 7-11/Wells Fargo bank stop on Main St in Glassboro. Message me from my Meetup profile for the address or my cell # so I can help bus riders carpool.

The 408 leaves Philadelphia 6th& Race at 11:12 and 1:12, arriving at Glassboro at 12:29 or 2:29. Scotty came to GCH's HumanLight celebration, so even if you are in the City, come down to the suburbs and enjoy a nice Labor Day picnic with your Humanist friends.

The 408 leaves Millville and comes up through Cumberland and Gloucester Counties, arriving at Main & High in Glassboro at 12:23 and 2:13. Ask for the Wells Fargo stop, which is after Main & High. I'll pick people up at the bank.

Email or message me for Bill and Brenda's address, if you are driving. It's a potluck, so bring a dish to share, and bring the family!

The food was tasty and healthy. Many thanks to all who contributed the homemade dishes. We had three new members and 12 total, including 2 children! We talked about starting a Humanist lending library, and also discussed Camp Quest for NJ. We passed around and discussed books about new worldview polls (Non-Believer Nation) and the Jesus Myth. Humanlight was considered for December, perhaps in cooperation with South Jersey Humanists. Our next meeting will be at Mullica Hill Library in early October.

Remember: We have our visit to Fairton Prison coming up on September 15th.

My wife and I spent a delightful afternoon with eight new friends. The discussions were lively and everyone had ample time to express themselves. I had some difficulty following all the acronyms but time and familiarity with the AHA movement will fix that.

Looking forward to Sunday: Brenda is providing dessert, coffee and tea, and a veggie & dip platter, and Suzan and Mike might bring their famous homade pasta salad. Janice is bringing water and soda. Hope to see everyone here!

My wife, Joanie, makes a mean dish of barbequed beans. How will that do for this weekend?

Sounds good, although I am not a bean person, but I also have to leave the picnic early to drive my teenager to a party!

I made this an event on the Philadelphia Atheists Meetup. I don't expect many takers. Perhaps Scotty will join us again. I posted the bus info and will add it to our announcement too.
