Hello Gluggers! Welcome to our first Glug Manchester!
Manchester is full of talent when it comes to digital and creatives, and we are keen to show off the amazing creative community the city has to offer! So calling all creatives in and around Manchester, come and join in on the conversation and be part of the movement that is Glug.
We are very excited to bring you our first Manchester Glug event on Wednesday 27th April at Noho (http://www.noho-bar.com/) in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. We will be taking you through a journey into the world of creatives with some amazing speakers including our friends at Microsoft, BBC & The Neighbourhood!
Microsoft | Phil Winstanley

Phil is a Cyber Security specialist working at Microsoft in their Manchester office. Over the past couple of years Phil has focused much of his efforts on the policy changed and techinal impact of the introduction of a new Protective Marketing scheme within the UK which came into force in April 2014 called the Government Security Classification (GSC).
Phil will be presenting a talk around the 'Dark side of the internet' and 'Web Crime'.
BBC | Barry Briggs
Website - bbc.co.uk
Twitter - @quiffboy
Barry is a Senior UX Architect at the BBC with over 15 years’ experience working in the web industry. During that time he counts himself lucky to have worked client-side, in-house and with some of the best agencies in the north-west on numerous successful high profile projects for global brands, across a wide variety of sectors. He’s a usability obsessive, one of the Northern User Experience (NUX) team in Manchester, a chronic perfectionist and a would-be evil scientist. In-between all this he spends far too much time in his quest for the perfect quiff.
Barry will be presenting a talk on 'Designing for Evil'.
The Neighbourhood | Dave Bird
Website - http://www.the-neighbourhood.com/
Twitter - @neighbourhood
As a new arrival to The Neighbourhood Dave brings over a decade of experience to the team, having worked with a selection of creative agencies across England. Specialising in Conceptual Brand Design and Illustration Dave understands creativity; the ways to kick start creative work, asking the right questions, the processes that help it succeed and the time to say Yes and say No. In his role at The Neighbourhood he is focused on creating great work and nurturing the creative atmosphere, embracing the creative potential of all projects, utilising the skills at the team's disposal. Each project still starts with the pencil.
Dave's talk will approach the subject of belonging. Both in terms of the Neighbourhood's ethos for 'working for good' and theimportance of creating the right atmosphere to be inspired.
