An evening with Randy Ross, Stand up Performer/Author

Great seeing those of you who made it to Mysterious Galaxy to see Toni Gallagher today! We have another event coming up on the 22nd. This show is going to be a hoot! Randy Ross is a very funny guy and this will be a great event! I know there are quite a few of you in the group who do stand-up and appreciate the genre as a whole. If some of your are thinking about performing the spoken word- this will be a great talk for you!!!

We'll be back at our home away from home — Upstart Crow in Seaport Village. There's street meter parking outside of the parking lot, or steeper parking ($) inside the lot. Please make sure to buy a coffee and a snack at the Upstart Crow's coffee bar so we'll continue to be asked. You may ask a guest to the event.  Make sure you layer for the event - it gets pretty cool inside, as they keep the doors open. The bookstore is a great venue and when you drive into seaport village there is a little parking lot by the merry go round that has reasonable parking. The bookstore is facing the parking lot, so keep driving until you see it and you can park in a space nearby.

Go, Be, Write presents, Randy Ross (, a performer, journalist and debut novelist. His one-man show, The Chronic Single's Handbook, will be featured at the San Diego fringe festival next week. In March 2017, his comedy novel, God Bless Cambodia, will be published by The Permanent Press, small press specializing in literary fiction. Randy will talk about his own rocky path to publishing: He queried 110 agents and 15 small presses before receiving an offer from The Permanent Press. He will discuss things he learned the hard way about querying agents, negotiating a contract with a small publisher, and how much credence to give to advice from experts, well-meaning friends, and not-so well-meaning reading partners. He will also perform two of his spoken-word pieces derived from his novel: "The Day I Was Almost Gay" and "One Day in Thailand."

About his show:

The Chronic Single's Handbook is one-man show about a never-married hypochondriac who takes a trip around world looking for the woman of his dreams. It's an unflinching look at how men feel about sex, love, marriage, and massage parlors. "A lot of fun to watch. Four Stars" (Winnipeg Free Press) "Literary" "Funny" "Raw" (DCMetroTheaterArts) "Sharply funny…a quality solo show" (FringeReview)   He will be performing five shows at the San Diego fringe: 6/24, 6/25, 6/26, 7/1, 7/3. Tickets are $10.  For more info:

Oh, hey! Randy published "Domination for Dummies" way back in 2012 with Black Heart, which is my literary magazine. ( I'll definitely have to come to this event, to finally meet him in person. :)
