We've got a bit of an adventure walk for you this month ...?with thanks to Colin Bridge for sharing his knowledge! There will be a bit of a bush bash to get out to the rock and the possibility some other off-track sections during the walk so be prepared to play it by ear and only do what you feel comfortable doing. If you don't wish to go exploring, you can always wait on the main track for the rest of the group to return - although I will just say, from a safety aspect, please don't leave one person waiting alone :)

Please make sure your RSVP is up to date the night before and text the Organiser on the day if you find you can't make it at the last minute.
THE WALK - 9kms; approx 4-5 hours; easy/moderate grade
The group will meet at the Numinbah Hall, where there are toilets and ample parking. We will then carpool another 3.5kms up the Valley to the starting point of the track, near the 'Numinbah Adventure Trails' sign.
The first part of the track follows the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk trail, heading towards Binna Burra. You'll climb over a couple of stiles and fences, skirting around the Numinbah Prison Farm (please make sure you don't climb over the wrong fence!!) and then head up some steps around Turtle Rock. The off-track part involves getting out closer to Egg Rock and there is also another section where you can head off to explore a gully. Colin has done this walk a couple of times so you will be in good hands! You'll return the same way.
Here are recent videos of walks. Watch this space for the latest (note: you can watch them in High Definition by pressing the HD button at bottom right of the video). Click the icon below for a GPS Track Map.
WHAT TO BRING: Plenty of water, snacks/lunch, sunscreen and insect repellent (I find that Rid seems to keep the leeches at bay!) Members are also asked to bring a first aid kit on every hike.
AFTERWARDS: It's always hard to go past the Advancetown Pub!
COST: We'll pass around the hat again for a $1 contribution to cover our registration on the Meetup website which is around $170 per year. Any additional funds will be donated to the Springbrook SES.
PERSONAL RESPONSILIBITY PHILOSOPHY: The Gold Coast Hiking Meetup Group is not a registered association or official club - it's really just a group of people walking together. As such, we cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries that may happen at or occur as a result of our events. We also cannot provide any guidance on fitness levels required. I always try to include the description from the NPWS websites but basically, it's up to individual members to decide whether they are hale and hearty enough to undertake the walk. We like to call this our 'PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY' philosophy!
