The Gold Country Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation was formed to:
1. Provide a place for members to learn about and access nutrient dense foods.
2. Promote a healthy local food economy, local food security and community resiliency with local nutrient dense foods
3. Teach about the work and research of Dr. Weston A. Price
4. Promote Sustainable and Grass Based Farming
5. Help members access support and services to facilitate a traditional foods diet.
This chapter meets the 2nd Monday of each month, at 6pm at the Jacobson's Yoga studio on Cement Hill, in Nevada City.
We are a group of farmers who grow nutrient dense foods, consumers of local nutrient dense foods and health practitioners who recommend these foods. Our meetings reflect the interests of our members with knowledgeable speakers of leading edge subjects. Our meetings and potlucks are free.
Membership in the Weston A. Price Foundation westonaprice.org is encouraged but not required. Take the tour of the Weston A. Price Foundation on the homepage at westonaprice.org, and take a look at the brochures and the videos.
We also recommend becoming a member of the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund. www.farmtoconsumer.org They have a very interesting website.
In addition to the regular meetings, our chapter sponsors cooking classes using the Nourishing Traditions Cookbook, other classes, events, festivals, Earth Day as well as Sustainable and Permaculture Ag conferences
Our chapter maintains a list of local farmers who raise nutrient dense foods using sustainable and health enhancing practices. We visit local farms to assure sustainable farm practices for our members, and to add these farmers to our list. This list is available to anyone seeking local, nutrient dense foods. We are always interested in having these farmers sell their products at our meetings or events. All are welcome at our meetings.
We recommend that you register as a member on meetup.com in order to receive email updates and announcements about our meetings and events.
