How to find us

We love rehearsing at St Timothy Lutheran Church, but have no religious affiliation. It's on the corner of Woodruff and Arbor Rd in Lakewood. Park in the back parking lot; enter on Arbor Rd. Our rehearsal room is the hall closest to the parking lot.

We'll be leaving our rehearsal hall around 7:15 to head out to Los Cerritos Mall to do a FLASH MOB! If you want to come along, arrive at the rehearsal hall at 7:00 and follow the caravan. We are converging at 7:30 at the Lazy Dog Cafe entrance and entering the mall from there. Hope you can join us. This will be a lot of fun! Directly following the FLASH MOB, we will be dining at STACKED restaurant, which is a fundraiser for the chorus. See the Meetup Announcment about the fundraiser. ABOUT GOLDEN SANDS: The Golden Sands Chorus is a Chapter of Sweet Adelines International. We have been an active part of Greater Long Beach since we chartered in 1952 (that’s 65 years!) We call ourselves “The Beach Girls” and currently have 30 women who meet every Tuesday night. Our music is arranged in the Barbershop style, which an American genre (4-part a cappella harmony). We sing a variety of music from all eras (Show Tunes, Patriotic, Christmas, Love Songs, Standards, and more…). We work hard at our craft and we love to perform! We sing at community events, compete against other chorus in the Spring, and have and annual show. Our director, Gerry Papageorge, is a fabulous vocal coach and singer, so each week we work on vocal production skills, too. Do you love to sing? Can you carry a tune? Our chorus may be just what you've been looking for. Women of all ages and vocal abilities who'd like to experience singing four-part a cappella harmony are invited to join us at our weekly rehearsal. The ability to read music is a plus, but is not required. Come at 6:45 pm so we can determine which part (tenor, lead, baritone or bass) you're best suited for. We'll give you a book of sheet music to use for the evening, then you'll join us for physical and vocal warm-ups and some four-part a cappella singing! If you'd like to just come and watch, visitors are always welcome! We look forward to meeting you!! Hear us sing our 2013 competition songs:
