Apple Picking Nov 7th (tomorrow) in Minnetonka

Second Harvest has a need for volunteers to help pick, wash, and crate apples tomorrow in Minnetonka. The weather is supposed to be great tomorrow, so why not come out to enjoy the weather and help others at the same time.

"We need some volunteers to help pick apples in Minnetonka tomorrow (Saturday) morning, November 7th!

We realize this is very short notice, but we just got a call from Minnetonka Orchards who have surplus apples on the trees that they are willing to donate to Second Harvest Heartland if we can get volunteers out to pick them. They also have some that are already picked and need to be washed and put into cardboard boxes.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is for partly sunny skies with a high of 60. With the weather being so nice, we are hoping to get a good-sized group people to come out and help.

Here are the details:

Minnetonka Orchards
Saturday, November 7, 2009
9:30am-12:30pm (or until done)
Dress for the weather (layers are a good idea) and wear closed-toe shoes. It?s a good idea to bring along a change of footwear and water bottle as well.
Children are welcome, but it is very important you let us let us know how many adults and children may be coming.

You can find directions on their website: http://www.minnetonkaorchards.com/contact_minnetonka_orchards.cfm

Please respond via email only if you can definitely come along. Tony Mans ([address removed]

Thanks for considering volunteering for Second Harvest Heartland! We estimate that this effort will bring in over 200 bushels of apples which we will then distribute to those in need in our community."
