(NOTE: Right now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of our meetings are conducted via Zoom and some are in-person in outdoor restaurant settings, depending on the comfort of the group that is meeting.) The Good Reads and Good Eats book club has two separate groups. The first group meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at a local restaurant to discuss the month's book selection. A second weekend group typically meets on the Saturday or Sunday two weeks following the Tuesday meeting. Book selections for the Tuesday meeting are made monthly through a poll on this website; book selections for the weekend meeting are made during the previous meeting. For a list of past book selections, click here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/gc646uxyb3w7175/GoodReadsGoodEats-BookHistory.docx?dl=0). View the group history here (https://www.meetup.com/GoodReadsGoodEats/about/). You don't have to have finished or even read the book to come to a meeting - but we will not hold back on spoilers, so if you don't want the story spoiled for you, you may want to opt out when you haven't read or finished the book.
We do charge a small annual membership fee ($2 per person per year) to cover the $180/year in fees that Meetup charges just to have a group as large and as active as this one. We provide a 60-day trial period after you join so you can try out a meeting or two before you commit to an annual membership; if you do not pay the $2 fee after 60 days, Meetup will automatically remove you from the group. If the $2 annual fee is a hardship for you, please contact Jen at jennifer dot alluisi at gmail dot com for consideration of a waiver of the fee. Similarly, if ordering food and drinks at a restaurant does not fit into your budget or your dietary restrictions, feel free to come and drink water while discussing the book!
