You are invited to join our first workshop for beginners.
We will write together a todo list API and iterate over best practices in TDD.
After this session, you will know:
• how to setup a development environment (Sublime, VIM...)
• testing libraries (testing, testify...)
• net/http layer
• Go standards
• best practices (taken from the Way to Go (http://go-talks.appspot.com/github.com/jgautheron/talks/2015/waytogo/waytogo.slide#1))
How it works
We will progress step by step, during a live coding session, and help you as you code your own version of the todo list. You will be able to take a different path at each step (use the stdlib, or a 3rd party... pick your own DB backend) and challenge yourself, which will make your app unique.
The frontend won't get in your way, it will be already prepared using an adapted version of the TodoMVC (http://todomvc.com/) project.
Of course, a wide selection of drinks will be proposed to keep you coding, plus pizza in the afternoon.
You will need a laptop and don't forget your power cord!
A Mac or Linux environment is preferred.
There should be more than enough place to park around, but keep in mind that we have a private parking as well, just behind the building (see that tree?).
We look forward to seeing you again!
P.S. Please keep in mind that the main language for this event is English, but you don't have to be a great english speaker, whatever your level we will manage!
