    Gowanus Brooklyn Runners Wednesday Evening Runs Roll on! THE PLAN: Join us on Aug 21st for a run to Brooklyn Bridge Park. We'll meet in front of Gowanus Yacht Club (323 Smith St) and run through Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill before heading to the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront. The run is an "out and back", so it can be adjusted to any distance that works for the group. After the run we'll finish with either a well deserved cold beverage or ice cream (poll taken after the run :) ) WHERE WE MEET: This week, we're starting from in front of GOWANUS YACHT CLUB (383 Carroll Street), a few steps from the Carroll Street F and G subway station. MEETING TIME: To make it easier for folks to join after work, we'll meet at 7:30pm and kick off the run at 7:40pm. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: These are OPEN runs! Anyone who wants to meet some new locals and would benefit from running in a small group. Feel free to bring a friend, relative, partner, roommate, spouse, etc! QUESTIONS/COMMENTS: Please message the organizer on MeetUp with any questions, if you are running late or a last-moment RSVP. FALL GOAL? For those interested in a 10k event this fall, we'll aim towards an awesome one known as "Grete's Great Gallop 10K" on October 5th (https://www.nyrr.org/races/nyrrgrete39sgreatgallop10k)! We'll kick off beside the Carroll Street bridge over the Gowanus Canal, run uphill to Prospect Park, enter and run part of the park, and then run back - downhill! WHERE WE MEET: This week, we're starting from LAVENDER LAKE BAR (383 Carroll Street), a few steps from the Carroll Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal. This pub features a great menu and outdoor backyard space. It's just 2 blocks from the Carroll Street station on the F and G subway lines. MEETING TIME: We'll meet at 7:00pm and kick off the run at 7:10pm. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: These are OPEN runs! Anyone who wants to meet some new locals and would benefit from running in a small group.     *** NOTE TIME CHANGE TO 7:30PM *** *** IN CASE OF LIGHT RAIN, WE RUN. CHECK EVENT WALL @ 7PM *** After a few great Wednesday evenings, during which we had the chance to meet and run with some awesome Brooklynites: Libby, Rene, Renee, Shifra, Claire, Marta and others, we'll continue focusing on beginner and casual runners each and every Wednesday! WHERE WE MEET: Gowanus Brooklyn Runners Wednesday Evenings kick off from a couple of different locations in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn. This Wednesday we'll take off from the "Gowanus Yacht Club" (323 Smith Street), at the corner of Smith & President Street! This outdoor pub is super conveniently located on the same corner as the entrance to the Carroll Street station on the F and G subway lines. WHEN WE MEET: With the warm weather and potential afternoon rain, this week we'll meet at 7:30pm and kick off the run at 7:40pm. After the run, leave some time to socialize and chat up with fellow runners. We usually hang out for a cold beverage after the run, so plan accordingly! PLAN: This coming week we'll do 2.5 to 3 miles (~30-35 min) towards Brooklyn Heights! PACE: 11 to 12 minute miles. WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?: Anyone who wants to meet some new locals and would benefit from running in a small group. FALL GOAL?     After a few great Wednesday evenings, during which we had the chance to run with awesome Brooklynites like Libby, Rene, Renee, Shifra, Claire and Marta, we'll continue focusing on beginner and casual runners each and every Wednesday! Gowanus Brooklyn Runners is kicking off a 10-WEEK BEGINNER RUNNER SUMMER SERIES! During this Wednesday evening series, we'll do our best to help you from the couch to a 10km (6.2 miles) race this fall! WHERE WE MEET: Gowanus Brooklyn Runners Wednesday Evening Runs kick off from a couple of different locations in/near the Gowanus section of Brooklyn. This week we'll take off from the "Gowanus Yacht Club" (323 Smith Street), at the corner of Smith & President Street! This outdoor pub is super conveniently located on the same corner as the entrance to the Carroll Street station on the F and G subway lines. WHEN WE MEET: We meet at 7pm and kick off the run at 7:10pm. After the run, leave some time to socialize and chat up with fellow runners. We usually hang out for about 45 minutes after the run finishes, so plan accordingly! PLAN: This coming week we'll do about 2.5 to 3 miles through the quiet streets of Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill and head towards Brooklyn Bridge Park! PACE: Moderate conversational COST: No fees! Just bring some funds to buy yourself a well-deserved, after-training food/drink. WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?: Running Newbies and Veterans are all welcome!     Our next Gowanus Brooklyn Runners Wednesday Evening Run will take place on July 10th and take off from the "Gowanus Yacht Club", at the corner of Smith & President Street! This outdoor pub is super conveniently located on the same corner as the entrance to the Carroll Street station on the F and G subway lines. The Plan: We'll map out 3 to 5 miles through the quiet streets of Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill and head towards Brooklyn Bridge Park! Running Newbies and Veterans are all welcome! The pace will be moderate/conversational. Enjoy the July 4th weekend and see you on July 10th!

    Week #3 of our Wednesday Evening Runs will take us through beautiful Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Bridge Park! If you haven't checked out Brooklyn Bridge Park, nor seen much of the surrounding neighborhoods, this event is not to be missed! Running distance: about 5 miles. Pace: easy/moderate. As usual, we meet at the Union Street bridge spanning the Gowanus Canal just outside of the BBQ restaurant/pub "Pig Beach". We end the training with a chat/drink/snacks at Pig Beach's outdoor patio! Not sure you can manage 5 miles? No problem! We'll have shorter options for your consideration :)

    **RAIN ALERT** Please check the group at 6pm for a final call on tonight's run. If it's not raining or raining lightly, we will run as planned! ***************** After a great Week #1, we'll continue our Wednesday evening runs with a casual group training through Red Hook to Valentino Pier. The complete circuit is 4 to 5 miles and we'll keep the pace very moderate. Once again, we'll start at the Union Street bridge spanning the Gowanus Canal, just outside of the BBQ restaurant/pub called "Pig Beach". We'll end the evening with a chat/drink/snacks at Pig Beach's outdoor garden space! Gowanus Brooklyn Runners: JOIN US!

    We're kicking off Gowanus Runners weekly Wednesday evening training with a casual 5km social city run starting at the Union Street bridge spanning the Gowanus Canal. Look for us outside of Pig Beach. We'll end the evening with a chat/drink/snacks at Pig Beach's outdoor patio! Not sure you can manage 5km (3miles)? No problem! We'll have a 3km option just for you!
