What we're about

***since most of our meetups take place outside, there won't be much going on over the winter. We are going to try to have a few gatherings, but not like the regular weekly schedule of spring, summer, and fall. We will be meeting regularly again in the coming spring for study, discussion, and ritual, so be sure to join the group to be notified of new events and check out the past events to get an idea of what we do!***

About Druidry and the Silver Branch Grove:

The Silver Branch Grove intends to create a sacred space for druidic and shamanic students and practitioners to embrace all aspects of our human spiritual experience.

Druidry is a transformative and an inherently shamanic “technique of ecstasy” that can help heal the fragmented soul of the modern world. With deep roots in the indigenous and ancient wisdom traditions of the Celtic and Pre-Celtic cultures of Europe, Druidry is still a living and dynamic path for the world of today. Contemporary Druidry is a way of approaching the deeper mysteries of life in an ensouled world. It is an engaged nature-based path informed by a deep love of the natural world and a strong desire to consciously participate in our connection to Nature, the earth, our home. Our studies and practice allow us to heal the soul-world split of modernity and begin to re-inhabit our true place in the grand cosmology of ensouled worlds.

Come and join us to learn more about Druidry and Celtic shamanism. Over the summer and fall of 2015, we held weekly meetups for talking stick discussions on all aspects of druidry and Celtic shamanism, as well as study groups of the book Druid Shaman by Danu Forest. For 2016, we plan on having similar meetups and perhaps a guest speaker or two...

Most of our meetups are free of cost, but we will gracefully accept donations to help pay for this meetup page. We are considering also having paid, workshop-like events in 2016 so stay tuned.

Our meetups are diverse, but usually consist of

• Semi-structured but informal studies of druid shamanism. These usually are framed around books on the subject, druidic and shamanic practices, and our personal experiences and knowledge. Future books might include Fire in the Head by Tom Cowan, or the series on Norse shamanism by Raven Kaldera. If you know of a good one, let us know about it!

• Other "Talking Stick and Hillwalking" meetups focused on various topics such as the sacred marriage, depth psychology and modern soul loss, contemporary expressions of druidry and shamanism, Druidry, Shamanism, and Visionary Art, Ogham divination, or meditations on the high days of the wheel of the year

• We also gather for ritual and celebration of the high days

• Anything else to which Awen and Imbas (sacred inspiration) might lead us!

The Silver Branch Grove is a seed group of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD). Our practice has its basis in Celtic druidic and shamanic traditions, but we are inclusive and welcoming to any practitioners and seekers, OBOD members or not, that honor the earth-mother creation. We are located in the land of the great lakes in west Michigan… Kent County, Grand Rapids, Byron Center, Caledonia, Kalamazoo...
