you might not be aware of these kind of writers.  I don't know if all art music poetry etc...  if they have a "mystical bent," can be relagated to the bunk category.

There is art and than there's kitsch, i don't think this writer is necessarily kitsch. 
Buckminister Fuller could also be called a "mystical intellectual," but he did invent some practical scientific objects and was a friend of A. Einstein.
