Our club’s focus is bringing together intellectually curious people to explore the following topics: history, culture, economics, society, neuro-psychological, and human rights topics. Although the readings and movies will cover different genres, they will be mostly nonfiction and focus on those topics that provoke discussion and learning. Hopefully, we will learn from each other, grow intellectually and emotionally, and laugh some in the process. We keep each meeting small, because we want to make sure everyone has ample time to contribute. We meet at our home - near the Friendship Heights metro.
In the last few months, these are the books/movies we have read or seen and discussed:
Since we want to keep the group small and intimate, we have mainly restricted membership to those we know. So, if you have the secret passcode, the below information does not apply to you.
For those without the secret code, you will need to email me the following additional information in order to join:
1. Your agreement to keep all information shared in the group confidential
2. Your educational and/or professional background and your address
3. Your agreement to have your driver's license photocopied before entering our home
We know this seems cumbersome and invasive, but we really do want to respect the privacy of our members, maintain their safety, and having someone unknown join the group comes with risk, and we want to minimize that risk. We hope you understand.
