Before the large vats of the commercial tanning process, full of deadly chemicals, there was the traditional brain tanning. This skill was used to make clothes, shoes, bags, and such to better the lives of the entire community.
So many hunters today discard the skins of the animals due to the presumed uselessness or over weight of the load.
This simple workshop teaches, in a backyard setting, how everyone can tan in a low impact, sustainable, and useful way.
The three day workshop will be held on the 22, 28, and 29 and every one will walk away with there very own brain tanned buckskin. The best kind of leather there is, as soft as velvet and as strong as Carhartt!
Tuesday 22: 9:30am - 12pm - Graining
Monday 28: 9:30 - All Day - Braining, Softening, Smoking
Tuesday 29: 9:30am - 12pm - Smoking (if not finished on 28)

If you just want a one day hands on overview of the process, come on Monday 28th. (Will not take home leather, just knowledge!)
