Upcoming events and info (from our friends at Denver Crop Mob & Slow Food Denver)

Dear Greater Denver Urban Homestaders,

We are so excited to have been successful scheduling so many Crop Mobs! Please go to our website for info on the upcoming dates and MARK YOUR CALENDAR.

Our first crop mob on April 7 is full, but if you'd like to learn more about hugelkultur, here is a link to the website for Organic Landscape Design. They are having an event on 3/14 so get in there and get your hands dirty!

If you are interested, James Wieser of Amateur Mycology wants to talk to you about fungi! Contact him if you are interested in improving your garden and the world with mushrooms! Email him at [address removed] or check out his website. Here's an excerpt from an email he sent me:

Unfortunately, most urban areas are mycological "deserts" because the environment is so disturbed/damaged/changed that the correct biodiversity is almost non-existent. Until the right fungi are back in the environment, the natural system will be impaired. There are always fungi around but they would be the equivalent of “weeds” to a mycologist and the last thing gardeners like to grow are weeds!!! The proper mushrooms DOUBLE the growth of your plants and provide a whole second crop in the same space for the added benefit. AM has over 100 native or indigenized species in our culture library as well as the proper schemes to reintroduce said species. We do this as a service to those who are making The Second Agricultural Revolution a reality, free of charge. All we ask is that people pass on the information and the mycelium to others to make this a reality!
See you in the garden,

Laurie Schneyer
