Jessica,

You are absolutely right. I could wait until a book comes out and is
available at the library and it would be cheaper and greener. I like
to have my books though. I like to loan them out, grab them off the
shelf sometimes and reread them, underline passages that are special
to me... I know that's selfish and all but it's one indulgence I find
difficult to give up.

Memoirs would be great to get from the library, but the guides
(canning, organic gardening, animal care, self sufficiency, botany)
are all things that work better kept as reference guides.
