Rickett's Glenn Falls Hike!!
Needs a date and time
Take the lead and schedule this hike. The Falls Hike…at Rickett's Glen ! ttp://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/rickettsglen/index.htm (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/rickettsglen/index.htm) Please read for the details and explore the links... dont ask me questions I have answered here. Thank You! This is one of Pennsylvania's best kept secrets! Ricketts Glen harbors Glens Natural Area, a National Natural Landmark. Take the Falls Trail and explore the Glens, which boasts a series of wild, free-flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in this ancient hillside. The 94-foot Ganoga Falls is the highest of 22 named waterfalls. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the scenic area. Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park is comprised of 13,050 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan and Columbia counties I have been to the Rickkett's Glen's Falls several times. Beauty!! http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/rickettsglen.aspx Rickett's Glen Hilke On this trip, we'll be hiking the Falls Trails starting at the Rt. 118 Trailhead Parking Heading up Kitchens Creek http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/rickettsglen/rickettsglen_mini_pdf.pdf This will make the return trip easy on us less in shape hikers. But no illusion, this is a 1000 ft elevation change!! The Hikers can split off into 2 groups... those who want to take off like a rocket...and those like me, who will huff and puff but wont give up..just take more time. Absolutely No Children on this trip. They can walk off a cliff!! 7.2 ish miles, difficult hiking The full loop of this trail is 7.2 miles if hiking both the upper and lower sections. To see most of the waterfalls, a 3.2-mile loop can be taken by going on Highland Trail and the Glen Leigh and Ganoga Glen sides of the trail. The trails follow along 21 beautiful waterfalls ranging in heights from 11-feet to 94-feet. The scenery is well worth the effort, however, the terrain is rocky, can be slippery, and descends steeply on both the Ganoga and Glen Leigh sides. Hikers should take extra precautions with trail conditions, wear proper footwear, stay on the trail, and be in good physical condition. Bring lots of H2O and a lunch or snack. Hike data found here: http://www.localhikes.com/HikeData.asp?DispType=0&ActiveHike=112&GetHikesStateID=3&ID=4332 Hikers on the Falls Trail should be in good physical condition , wear sturdy boots, and use caution due to slippery/wet conditions and steep trail sections. The following guidelines will help ensure a safe and enjoyable hiking experience while at the park. Bring Water and a snack to eat. Always wear sturdy boots. Wearing sneakers, sandals, "water shoes" and "street shoes" can lead to serious accidents in this park. Or should a group of you choose to Hike an easier trail..find them here, but you will miss the grand sights of the falls. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/rickettsglen/rickettsglen_trails.aspx http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/rickettsglen/rickettsglen_mini.pdf On the way back from the park, We'll stop at a little Diner to replenish our lost calories! ...and its cheap! Photos Here http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/pb/d2419/ This is also a nice Park to Camp in…but that we'll save for another time! Participating in this or any activity you agree to my Disclaimer of Reponsibility here: http://files.meetup.com/1511088/Discalaimer.htm

What we're about

Public Group

Welcome to the The Greater Lehigh Valley Outdoors Adventures Meetup!

This group is open to all who join and to those in other groups as well. We are a Diverse Minded Collection of people. The Variety of our Minds are what offers the New and Different Experiances in our lives. This group embraces a very open concept. Anyone interested in organizing any outdoor activity can post it. Think of my role as someone who holds the door open for those who want to be active in participating or organizing events.

Servicing the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas, we offer bonfires, hikes, bikes, walks, camping, beach, skiing, vollyball, festivals ...open to any outdoor activities. The key to a growing, thriving group, is the open door policy and the Most Welcomed Event Contributions it's members make! In this group, all active members are made event organizers and have the ability to post events. Hope you can come out soon to an activity soon!

This group will be relying heavily on your input to make this club a successful, growing and vibrant experience for you all! ...This group empowers all active Members by making them an Event Organizer...in fact This group insists that there be more than just one organizing events!! Post an event and they will come!

And Gentlemen, (We use that term loosely, you know who you are). This is not a dating site, if that is what you want there are plenty of "Dating sites" to go hunting in.

Self-promotion and events that you would earn money from are prohibited.

This is a group created for people to get out and socialize and make lasting friendships with other members.

Spam is not welcome.... People looking to profit will be removed from the group

Post an event on the Calendar and they will come!

This group is also open to and fosters co-organizing events with other meetup groups without restrictions to membership status.
