Clarence Hatworks 45 Julia Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester M3 1LN, M3 1LN
NOTE: Members who have not climbed at Rock Over before can fill out the Online Registration here: http://app.rockgympro.com/tablet/rockoverclimbing
This helps to save time on your arrival - see you at the next session!
When to meet:
Meet at 12:00 - I (Daniel, Group Organiser -[masked]) will be hosting along with Scott Waddington! Feel free to drop me a text or call in advance to say hello or introduce yourself! You can also keep it with you just in case you can't find me on the day, or need directions!
There may be days in which I can't make a session, in which case, Scott will run the group alone and vice versa.
Where to meet...
We will meet by the black sofas just inside the main entrance on the right by reception. They're really easy to see! Sometimes I do run a couple of minutes late so if you arrive early or dead on time and only a couple are milling about, do not fear!
Please bear in mind that we wait up to 15-20 minutes for members who may be late. If you believe you will arrive later than this, please send me a text well in advance so I can let front desk know. They will then direct you to myself upon your arrival.
If this is your first time climbing, all you'll need to bring with you is yourself, and some suitable clothing! For guys, this might be shorts or jogging pants and a t-shirt. For ladies, this might be leggings and a vest top. Please use your own judgement, but remember, you're here to exercise as well as have fun!
You will be able to rent climbing shoes on the day, which are appropriate footwear provided by the climbing centre. Everything else will be covered by myself for beginners, however, experienced climbers WILL be expected to bring their own chalk bags for personal use. Beginners get to share mine on their first day!
Please note that although the session starts at 12:00 p.m., there is no fixed time for which you must climb. Members are free to climb as long as they wish and can leave at any point. For guidance, those of us who are experienced tend to climb for between 2-3 hours, although any member is welcome to stay beyond this!
As this is a social group, we may also take photographs occasionally for the group. If you do not want your photograph taken, please inform the event host prior to start of the session so they know this.
A list of prices can be found here: http://www.rockoverclimbing.co.uk/about/opening-times/
Please ensure you bring a suitable amount of money with you to cover your climbing experience. This is all given to Rock Over, you are not charged for being a part of this Meetup (unless you wish to take Official Membership, which provides you with a discount on your climbing experience). Beginners, please note the extra £2.50 charge for renting climbing shoes on the day.
Once you have attended Rock Over three times, you can then sign up for Annual Membership with the climbing centre directly at a cost of £10, which will reduce the climbing cost.
For an additional discount, if you believe you will be attending our sessions regularly throughout the year, you can pay an optional annual subscription fee of £10 directly to myself (NOT ROCK OVER) which will provide you with your own Official Membership card, as well as allow you to access the following benefits at Rock Over Climbing:
£5 climb with £1 shoe/chalk hire. Any day. Any time.
These cards will be carried by the Group Organiser (Daniel Martyniuk) to every Sunday session (at least the ones I can attend!), so there will always be the option to purchase one should you wish to do so. You will be able to access this offer for 12 months from the day you purchase your membership, at which point you will have to renew it if you wish to continue to access the deal.
Are you a new member? Great! Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you for your first climb with us. Don't hesitate to drop me a text on the number above just to say hello! :)
As a new member, your first session will involve a tour of the building and facilities, as well as an explanation of how to climb safely. I'll then run you through some basic climbing techniques before you are either paired or put into small groups to explore the centre together and have some fun! I'm always on hand throughout the entire session however, so if you have any questions, just ask!
Please remember to complete online registration (link at the top of the page) which will help speed things up on the day. Do not worry if you are unable to complete this, as you are able to complete registration at the centre if neccessary.
If you're a new member, but have previous climbing experience, then we will immediately integrate you into our climbing group and get you straight on the wall!
Usually after each session we will head for food at around 2.30 p.m. This provides everyone with the opportunity to grab some drinks/food and socialise with others in the group in a more informal setting and potentially chat with people they didn't get a chance to during the climb!
We usually go somewhere different every week, however, if you have any great suggestions for food please post them below! We're always looking for new ideas!
If you have any more questions about the event, please don't hesitate to get in touch, whether via email or phone/text. Look forward to seeing you there!
