"SON of 'RETURN of BURGER MADNESS!'"

Bar Louie

Yep! It's back - again! And, this time, it actually involves burgers, too! I hate to say it, but this Burger Madness! at Bar Louie is even better - perhaps way better - than the good ol' days at Minderbinder's! No way, you say? Well, how about $5 for any of their gourmet burgers w/ fries or tots (sub a salad for a buck)? No pitchers of cheap 1980's beer, but - even better - a great selection of brews, wine, & bevs at HH pricing! Burger Menu: http://barlouie.com/menu/eat/burgers.aspx#menu HH Menu: 4PM-7PM $3.25 Drafts, $4.25 Wines, $5.25 Martinis, 1/2 Price Select Apps & Flatbreads. Did I mention $5 Deluxe(!) Burgers? Full Menu: http://barlouie.com/menu/eat/apps.aspx We start at 4:30 & the Burger Deal starts at 5 PM, but show up when you can. I expect to be there 'til 7 PM or so. ~Ken[masked]

Mensa Forum - Malfunctions in Space

Paradise Valley Town Hall

TOPIC: ===>> Malfunctions in Space Fire. Equipment failure. Sensor malfunction. Punctures in space suits. The list of what can go (and has gone) wrong in space is a long one, as students in Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration’s SpaceWorks 1 class can now tell you. The class teaches students how space scientists and engineers work in the real world to explore the solar system. Skills like meeting NASA mission development timelines and knowing what program managers and manufacturing engineers do will smooth their entry into the field. A month ago, student teams launched landing craft from the sixth-floor balcony of the ISTB4 atrium. The landers were all built under design restrictions: They had to drop a payload, have it safely land in one piece on a target, and then deploy something. There was a weight restriction of 500 grams for the whole package, and it couldn't have any power. Our Speaker will talk about learning from those kinds of problems. Speaker: ===>> Don Doerres Mr. Doerres received his BSEE from the University of Iowa. He has had Masters Studies at Midwest College of Engineering and at Arizona State University. Don is a frequent speaker at technical conferences including four years speaking at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, and several years speaking at local conferences such as Arizona's Desert Code Camp. Mr. Doerres teaches private classes on microcontroller usage to young and old, including the popular Arduino and Raspberry Pi computer boards. Much of his open source work can be found at www.slideshare.net/dondoerres. Donald has worked in the AeroSpace industry (Motorola, EG&G, General Dynamics & Orbital Sciences) for most of his 40 year career on a broad selection of projects ranging from mobile communications gear, to heavy radar system refurbishment, to complex embedded systems used in spacecraft. He has written spacecraft software for many spacecraft, including all of the software for the Lunar Prospector mission. Mr. Doerres holds a Commercial Radio Telephone License and an Advanced Class Radio Amateur License. Don also is a (modest) member of the Mensa Society (for high IQ people). =========================================================== 9:00 PM (approx.) to 10 - ME/P - POST-FORUM DEBRIEFING - After the Forum we will adjourn to Humble Pie Pizza, 6149 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. (480)[masked]. Going South, a quarter mile from Lincoln and Scottsdale Rd you go East on Rose Lane into the Shopping Center. Humble Pie is straight ahead, at the north end of shopping center. If you miss Rose lane there are other entrances to the shopping center which you can turn East into and then go back north to Humble Pie.
