In many ways, life hands people hardships that cause them to be placed on a path that they would have never chosen on their own. At age 7, Greg was diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumor. The hardships resulting from the tumor gave him the strengths needed to develop a passion for trail running. From learning to walk again to running his second 50k, he has come a long way from the boy lying in a hospital room. Today, he is seen as one of the happiest runners in the woods. The reason he is able to smile so big and laugh heartily is because of the strength behind his smile. It has been said that nothing of any real value is achieved without hard work. Greg has found something valuable through his struggles to become a runner, a path he probably would not have chosen without the help of major brain surgery.
