If anything is going on, unexpectedly, and we can't get into Ault Park for whatever reason. The secondary location is Alms Park - about five minutes away from Ault Park.

This is the rescheduled Friday Night Lights - Friday Night Fights - High School Senior Shootout Meetup.

Leave your gloves at the door. May the best photographer win!

Here's the plan.

We're going to do a high school senior shoot-out.

Here's our model, Alex. Isn't she lovely.

She's not a high school senior, but do you think she can pull it off?

We'll have five photographers that think so!! Each one thinks they can get one, just one, WOW shot of her in 10 minutes. Ha! Easy breezy!

We're gonna be at a drop-dead beautiful location in butter-rich lighting so it shouldn't be too difficult for each photographer to 'turn it on' and show us their mojo.

And that makes this your picture perfect chance to watch from behind the scenes up real close and real personal a hot-rock high school senior shoot.

Here's our agenda:

7:00 - 7:15 Introductions / Mentors Draw Time Slots
7:15 - 8:45 Friday Fights Begin :)
7:15 - 7:30 Tog 1
7:30 - 7:45 Tog 2
7:45 - 8:00 Tog 3
8:00 - 8:15 Tog 4
8:15 - 8:30 Tog 5
8:45 - 9:00 Buffer Time / Q&A
9:00 - ?? Drinks for the thirsty. Rest for the weary. And food for the hungry - Location TBA at Meetup.

Like I said, the title of this Meetup sounds rather harsh. In reality I got the idea for this Meetup from two PhotoVision DVDs. I don't remember what they called it, but what they did was have four or five well-known photographers meet at the Biltmore in NC. There they drew numbers and photographed the same couple wherever they wanted on the property. It was up to each photographer to choose their location (on the property), style, pose, lighting - everything. All in 10 min. Then they posted their final images for everybody to compare. My goal is to set up something similar here.

But I plan on kicking butt and taking names!! hehe So I'll show you how I would go about photographing this high school senior. Four other photographers are gonna do the same and will show you how they would set up this high school senior shoot and what resulting photograph(s) they'd deliver to the client to kick my butt. We'll post them all here and let you be the judge.

So you're invited too!! And guess what?? This Meetup is totally free - even though it's worth $100! So all photographers of any level that would be interested in seeing how each mentor photographer sets up their high school senior shoot in an up-close and personal environment, this Meetup is for you! All attendees will be able to watch each photographer in action. After each mentor photographer has had their turn to talk us through their shoot, the next one will show us theirs until we're all done.

The timeline we're using for that night encompasses the 'golden hour' (the hour right before sunset) and the silver half hour (the 30 min right after sunset where the sky is turning from blue to purple to black). We'll draw names and fill the time slots. Form there we'll follow the first photographer through their location choice, their lighting, their setup and finally their shoot. When done, we'll move on to the next photographer. Each photographer gets 10 min with the model. That gives us 5 min to walk to wherever the next locations is gonna be.

Each mentor photographer will bring their own gear and set up their high school senior shoot in advance and when their turn comes they will be prepared to shoot.

This will be a hands-on shooting event so bring your cameras even if you're not a mentor tog. But stay out of the way of the shootin' and no talkin' to the model during shoots.

Here are the five photographers that are fighting it out for your bloodthirsty amusement:

Tom Bryan (
Christopher Keeney (
Muthu Raman (
Bob Wilcox (

This Meetup will be a very informative, hands-on event. There is plenty of room for all of us to spread out yet still get in close to see and hear how five photographers set up and shoot a hot-rock high school senior!

If you have any questions, just let me know, otherwise I look forward to seeing you at our Friday Night Lights - Friday Night Fights - High School Senior Shoot-out. If it's popular, we'll do it again. And please remember to vote often and vote early!

This is not a clique – you will be welcomed....especially if you're votin' for me. :)
