West Side Monthly Morning Meet-up. Hand-Held, Low Light Photography

  • Jan 13, 2014 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Changes to this event are in Bold and Italics.

We will discuss and demonstrate proper hand holding techniques as well as camera settings and lens selection for best results while shooting in very low light. Lighting used will be as low as candle light. Please bring your camera and your fastest short focal length lens. If you have concerns or questions regarding your equipment, please ask in the comments section so that I may help. We will help you get the most low light capability out of YOUR gear, and have fun while doing so.

Topics are suggested by the group at prior meet-ups and will vary with group input.

Bring your questions on the topic, as how you participate throughout the meeting will determine the direction we go and how much each of us get out of the meet-up. Finally, we will take suggestions for the topic of our next meet-up. Remember this meetup has a limited attendance, if you sign up please plan seriously to attend. If for some reason you can't attend please change your RSVP as soon as you change your plans so others that are waiting may attend.

Truly enjoyed the meet up yesterday on low light photography - right up my alley. Appreciate all the time Mr. John and Mrs. Cathy spends to help us all grow. I also loved getting to know other photographers in the area - feels like a real family :)

We have a folder setup all to share your pix from today's meetup. BTW, thanks to all who attended today, Cathy and I really enjoyed our time with you all today. And we had a good group at lunch afterwards too. Thanks to all for being a great part of our day and letting us be part of yours.

John knows what he is talking about. I have learned a lot about photography and my camera. I am sorry I missed lunch!

Thanks John and Cathy for a nice meet up. I'm glad for the information sharing from others. The reasonably priced lunch after was good too. Hoping I can make the next one.

John certainly spends a lot of time planning his meetup. Very informative presentation. Everyone had their questions answered. i wish going to college had been this much fun. It's great to have John instruct the group, then show his images. I like and trust an instructor that shows his images to prove his point. And Cathy guards the door, no early exits....ever.

John, thanks for the very informative class, this was my first one but I hope to make many more. I really enjoyed it. I am new to photography and all of this is still a little greek to me, but I'm learning.

Planned to come, was really looking forward to this topic, but my truck doors are frozen shut. I'm very disappointed, any chance of a reschedule?

I plan to attend and I'm so happy to see stuff on the West side! But bad weather will be an issue for me so I'm hoping for clear weather!

Thank you Chris for your comment, we are looking forward to this next meetup and your being there. I hope to keep doing the west side meetups as long as interest is there. I also am working on finding a place to hold evening meetups, but that has been much more challenging.

It's great to learn from the master. John is many things, but never boring. The time flies.

I would love to go, but does not fit into my work schedule. Will this be offered as an evening topic in the future?

Hi Paul. That is my plan. The issue is finding a evening venue that has a projector and a room that can be blacked out in on the west side. So far, the libraries are booked up for evening hours. But I'm still looking!
