Simply one of the greatest choral works of all time and back by popular demand is Handel’s beloved oratorio, MESSIAH, as performed by the Pasadena Master Chorale. Written in the early 1740s, composed in a mere 24 days and an instant success, MESSIAH continues to be the composer's most popular work and may well be the best-known and most frequently performed classical work of all time. This concert is guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit. This free performance requires a ticket--instructions below. Attire: Business Casual, sport coat optional. Carpool signup HERE. The concert begins with the prophecy of the MESSIAH and His virgin birth by several prophets, namely Isaiah. His birth is described in words by Isaiah, followed by the annunciation to the shepherds as the only scene from a Gospel in the oratorio, and reflections on miracles and deeds performed by Jesus. The performance concludes with the famous "Hallelujah" chorus. "While everyone--and I mean that literally lol--is familiar with the famous "Hallelujah" chorus, the video below, 'For Unto us a Child is Born', is my favorite. I get goosebumps every time I hear it." — Organizer Lionel
