    Michael,
I wanted to keep a record of the wildflowers and trees you identified and we saw.
So far I have California Poppy, Wild iris, Scarlet Pimpernel, Suncup,Checkerbloom, wild lupine.
Do you remember the names of the other flowers?
Trees were Bay, California live oak. California Black Oak,Valley Oak. Any others?
And there was the Common Plantain, which had medicinal uses.
Thanks for all your good info!!!
    Fay

    Another fabulous group today!
Regarding the vetch we saw. I think it was Brigitte that asked whether it is native or non-native. I'm looking at my copy of Marin Flora. It describes three native vetch species in Marin and seven non-native vetch species. The way this reads, we were most likely looking at vicia benghalensis, a native of the Mediterranean region. Cheers.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm going to bring my flower book on the next hike - it's small with photos, so it's a good resource.

I'm going , but may have to cut out early. Is this timing accurate? On the other hikes I've attended We finished earlier than expected, andI'd like to do the entire thing, but need to be at SFO by 2 PM.Any suggestions?

Hi Fay, the timing is pretty accurate. If you have to be at SFO by 2pm I would suggest the first segment of the hike. Any more would be cutting it close.
