Petaluma - Shollenberger Park

  • Petaluma Sheraton Parking Lot

745 Baywood Drive, Petaluma, CA (map)

    38.230250 -122.612130

  • Green Boots is venturing north of Novato for the first time in its 6 year history! Tim Morgan has graciously put together an easy hike in Petaluma around the Shollenberger Park which is part of the Petaluma Wetlands. This is a great time of year to view waterfowl in the marsh.

Difficulty, Time, and Distance: Easy. 2.75 hours. 5.5 miles.

Carpool: 9:30 am. Meet at the Park & Ride Lot under Hwy 101 at Rowland. The entrance to the Park & Ride is next to the Hwy 101 North entrance ramp. Meet on the south side of the lot. The carpool leaves at 9:30.

Trailhead: 10:00 am. The trailhead is at the southern end of the Sheraton Hotel near the fuel dock in the marina. The hotel is at 745 Baywood Drive. Parking is available at the trailhead.

Route: It is 1.5 miles to Shollenberger Park on the Alman Marsh Trail, then 2.2 miles to do the loop there. We’ll do a short leg over to the Ellis Creek Treatment Plant wetlands (all connected) to get to 5+ miles.

    More Info:

    Rain: Cancels

Dogs...as far as I know (I'm not a dog owner), dogs on leashes are allowed in Shollenberger Park.

I'd love to join you but have a question. Does the group allow dogs? One in my case. (I know from numerous walks at Schollenberger that leashed dogs are allowed, but your rules might differ.)

Dogs are good by us as long as the park allows them.
