Every 3rd Thursday, Dandelion Communitea Cafe hosts Green Drinks.

Our February Meetup will discuss The Audubon Park Community Market and Local Food Suppliers to the Market.

Emily Rankin will be discussing APPEAL: Audubon Park, Promoting Environmental Action and Localism.

APPEAL is a non-profit organization that we are starting here in Audubon Park. The new and improved Audubon Park Community Market is our first program. In the coming months you will see many of the other great programs we have in store. Please join us on the journey of sustainability by attending our exciting events and commenting the process via our blog (http://www.audubonparkmarket.com/).

Remember the future is bright and filled with beautiful community. In the coming years pay attention to the gradual changes within Audubon Park, hell take action. Soon we will be a model for what a sustainable community looks like. We are not prefab, half-considered New Urbanism, we are an organic community in the works. All it takes is some intellect, elbow grease and a great attitude.

Some of the HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MARKET INCLUDE:

A produce stand which will have a growing selection of local organic goods (including local organic cabbage, oranges, green leaf lettuce and avocados) as well as nationally sourced organic items (including organic apples, red onions, red potatoes, portabellas and plantains).

The Florida School of Holistic Living’s Homegrown Co-op (http://holisticlivingschool.org/coop/) will also provide a small assortment of local organic veggies as well as other sustainable products.

Tia from Simple Living Institute (http://www.simplelivinginstitute.org/) has an assortment of starter plants, compost and locally grown organic produce (including bok choy, herbs and citrus).

Henry and Gus from My Yard Farm (http://www.myyardfarm.com/) are offering some local organic produce, starter plants and edible garden installations. (including citrus and papayas)

And Joe from Dansk Labs (http://homepage.mac.com/dansklabs/Personal20.html) features pure local honey, also check out his site for me information about operations focusing on micro-farming initiatives.

Please join us Thursday January 19th at 7PM.

Green Drinks where you can eat, drink, enjoy great music, talk and learn about the issues concerning our environment and the OurLando community.
