What we're about

The Greenville Meditators meet weekly from September through June. New meditators as well as experienced meditators are welcome to join us. Meetings include chanting, breathwork, and a 20 minute silent meditation followed by a short break, a relevant video and discussion. Videos and discussions will center around the following topics: The power of meditation, happiness, attention, judgment, negativity, positivity, breathwork, gratitude, compassion, empathy, and pain. The last meeting of each month we will do a guided meditation, Yoga Nidra, for the entire hour.

Tonight's video & discussion will look at how a positive attitude maintained in the face of adversity can bring big changes in our lives. Please join us for our weekly meditation. We begin at 7:00pm and end promptly at 8:00. Please plan to arrive on time (no more than 5 minutes early), arriving after we've started interrupts others' meditation. Because we try to cram as much as possible into an hour, we do not plan time to stretch before we sit, so if possible try to stretch your legs before you arrive. It makes sitting much easier. The format of our gathering is as follows: we begin with a short invocation, a simple chant to help relax, followed by some simple breath exercises. Then we begin our 20 minute sitting meditation and then a short break for tea and a discussion or video related to meditation. Being the last Tuesday of the month, we will practice Yoga Nidra, an hour of guided meditation done in a reclining posture. We begin at 7:00pm and end promptly at 8:00. Because the practice is done reclining on the floor, please bring some sort of support for your head. If you have a mat, that might help to make you more comfortable, too.
