On January 15, 2019, at Griffin Chapter of Georgia Nature Photographers Association in Griffin, GA, there will be a workshop followed by the regular meeting. The workshop, called Bootcamp, will begin at 5:15 in the Women’s Center, Spalding Regional Hospital. It will end at 6:15. The regular meeting will begin at 6:30 PMin the same location. Members as well as interested potential members are invited. The workshop and meeting are free and open to the public.
Bootcamp: 5:15 – 6:15 PM – Controlling Light I. If you or someone you know are trying to learn more about taking control of your camera and getting it off of the “AUTO” setting, this is for you. Many beginning photographers are unsure of how to use their camera controls and functions to take the type photos they want. This Bootcamp will focus on controlling light through the use of Camera Mode, Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO. Anyone wanting to learn more about this is welcome to attend. It is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to bring their cameras and camera manuals.
Regular Meeting: 6:30 – 8:30 PM – Freezing Motion with Flash. Art Stiles will do a presentation on how to use an off-camera flash to freeze motion by letting it become your effective “shutter”. He will talk about the speed of objects, and why a fast shutter speed is needed to capture them in detail, and without blur. He will explain how to use the duration of the flash as your effective “shutter speed,” and how different levels of power on the flash determine the effective “shutter speed.” During his presentation, Art will show examples and explain how he set up his equipment for the shot, along with camera settings.
