  • GroundUP Houston is Back!
No longer a morning mixer, GroundUP Houston has moved to a new after-work time slot at Bouncing Pixel's midtown office. After your busy day at the office (real or virtual, it doesn't matter), stop by for some craft beer, tasty snacks, and great conversations. Entrepreneurs tend to be young, so bring your ID if you want to drink beer but look like you're still in high school. • "555 Bash" -- A Triple Birthday Celebration
Join us at GroundUP Houston as we celebrate the 5-year birthdays of three companies. Born in the teeth of a recession, they had no idea what would happen next. Each of these groups built a business and integrated it into Houston's start-up scene. Many of you have come to know Bouncing Pixel, Aleberry Creative, and January Advisors as volunteers, community activists, civic initiators, and cheerleaders. Forever a morning mixer, GroundUP is moving to a new after-work time slot at Bouncing Pixel's new midtown office. After your busy day at the office (real or virtual, it doesn't matter), stop by for the best craft beer in Houston, provided by none other than Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company. Entrepreneurs tend to be young, so bring your ID if you look like you're still in high school. Food will be served, courtesy of our birthday boys and girls, prepared by Bouncing Pixel's very own Jackson Lau, Chief Animator and Grillmaster. That's what happens when you raise your hand. Come celebrate with us! Click here to RSVP (http://www.eventbrite.com/e/555-bash-tickets-11391451137).

We've got something big planned for our October meetup. Join us at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company for our first evening mixer. Houston's most innovative craft beer will be served, courtesy of Light Art Interactive (https://www.facebook.com/LightArtInteractive) and Bouncing Pixel (http://www.bouncingpixel.com). Light Art Interactive is the creator of the Sebbo, a rechargeable and programmable LED wristband described as pure light candy. The Sebbo KICKSTARTER (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/erickcalderon/the-sebbo-a-bright-and-colorful-rechargeable-led-w) campaign began on October 2 and is off to a great start. Support a Houston start-up! Everyone is also invited to the Startup Community Roundtable (https://www.facebook.com/events/340669872734986/), a session about local funding options for your startup. This is for our community, so YOU ask the questions. The discussion may include changes to the finance community, whether you should apply to an accelerator program, how to seek angel funding, ways to manage a network of investors from crowdfunding, and so on. The Startup Community Roundtable starts at 6:00 pm. GroundUP Happy Hour starts at 7:00 pm. We'll keep the brewery open and filled with great conversations and smart people until 9:00 pm. The beer is on us. ABOUT GROUNDUP HOUSTON GroundUP Houston events encourage entrepreneurs and people with start-up dreams to share their experiences with like-minded individuals.
