Join me on a Weekend trip to Porto. If people are up for it, climb the 240 steps of Torre dos Clérigos for panoramic views of the city. Take a ride on the historic Tram line #1. Go to the Dom Luis Bridge to watch the sunset. In the evening, go for Dinner and finish with a glass of Port. Sunday: Take a boat cruise on the Douro river. Take a tour of one of the wine cellars. Stroll around the town and revisit some of the sights viz. Livraria Lello bookstore, São Bento train station, etc. The Trip Joining fee is £55 (non-refundable). £10 deposit should be paid by bank transfer within 1 day of RSVP and balance 1 month before the trip date. It will cover the following expenses: a) City Walking tour (fee / tip to the Guide) b) One 24-hour Metro pass c) 1-hour River cruise d) A contribution of total £10 to i) a registered charity and ii) air travel carbon footprint offset e) PayPal fee (if applicable) The Joining fee will go up after 27-Jan-19 by £15 for those who RSVP or pay the deposit after this date. Nothing more is payable to me apart from this Joining fee. Flights are obviously not included in the Trip Joining Fee and are to be booked by the members directly. There is a direct Easyjet flight from Bristol to Porto on Saturday morning but the return flight on Sunday evening will have to be to a London airport. P.S. I shall fly out from London. Hotel or hostel (must be in city center) is to be booked by individuals themselves. If you want me to book your hotel, send me an email in early Feb and I shall book the same for you for an extra payment of £75. There will be people joining the Trip from outside this meetup group. On popular demand, let's go to Bucharest (Romania) over the Easter Holidays. Itinerary should look like below: Friday : Mostly a free day. People will join the main group as and when they arrive by coordinating over Whatsapp. . Saturday : Take a Walking Tour of the Old Town in the afternoon. Plus other sightseeing. Sunday : Day Trip by train (1.5hrs journey £10 ticket return) to Sinaia to see the beautiful Peles Castle (Else, will do a Day Trip by train to Busteni in the Prahova valley and see the Omu mountain). Monday : The group will decide what sightseeing to do. People will drop off depending on their Flight timings Trip Joining Fee of £55 payable to the 'Event Host'. It will go up by £15 after 1st Feb. Nothing else is payable to the Host apart from this fee. The Joining Fee will include only below 3 minor expenses: 1) Walking Tour (Fee/Tip to the Guide ~£10) 2) Train ticket for the Day Trip (~ £10) 3) Entrance to a Castle (~ £10) [group will decide on this item] Out of the above, £25 is intended as contingency fund - same will be donated to charity after the trip. All other expenses are to be borne and paid by the individual attendees themselves. This includes hotel, flights, food, transport, etc. £10 is payable by bank transfer to the Event Host within 2 days of the RSVP. Balance will be due 1 month before the trip. It is advised people book their hotel only later i.e. in March unless it is a refundable booking. People should book their accommodation in the below hotel or another hotel or hostel within 10 mins walk of it: Tania-Frankfurt Hotel Address: 5, Selari Str., Sector 3,[masked] Bucharest. Tariff for 3 nights 'refundable' booking as of 10th Jan: a) £150 for single occupancy b) £190 for double occupancy (if you tie up with another attendee to share the room) Flights: A) One Traveller priced up some flights on 10th Jan using departure 19th and returning 22nd Apr. From Bristol Flights will have stop overs and will cost over £300. From London they drop to around £100 each way direct. B) Another Traveller found 20th-23rd April £125 return from Bristol C) I shall be flying from London. Weekend trip to Lugano in Switzerland. We will fly to Milan and take a shared shuttle to Lugano. Will be staying in the Swiss Youth Hostel there. Joining Fee of £35 payable to the Organizer All other expenses are to be borne and paid by the individual attendees themselves.
