  • Come September: Berryessa / Calistoga / Busters BBQ (Sun 9/2, 9:30 AM ~ Sonoma)
Come September: "Lake Berryessa - Calistoga - Sonoma" Loop, with Busters BBQ in the middle. (for experienced riders with 15k miles & 2+ years of seat time) = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = • When: Sun 9/2, arrive 9:30 AM for Coffee, Gossips and Group Hug. KSU 9:45 AM. • Where: Meet by Union 76 at 23007 Arnold Dr - corner of Arnold Dr (Hwy 121) and Hwy 116 . It's 6 miles North of Sonoma Raceway. Fill up and then STAGE at Park-n-Ride parking across the street from gas station (map link = http://goo.gl/cpNpv8 ) • Pace: Not too fast. Not too slow. Just ride. • Gear: Head to toe. Dress in layers. This time of year temperatures can fluctuate by 10-15 degrees or more in a short distance. • Motorcycle: Yes, please bring one with you ;-) • Tentative Route: ~ 160 (+/-) miles of the great technical roads North of GG Bridge in semi counter-clockwise-zig-zaggy fashion. There will be plenty of bumps, tight turns with diminishing radius. Please ride within your comfort zone. Don't put yourself or others in harm's way by riding beyond your skill level. Ride will end around 4:00 PM in the North Bay. Map Link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/10169847 • Lunch: Lunch stop in Calistoga @ Busters BBQ ;-) There will be a few "break away" spots for those who need to get to freeway and head home early. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Words of Wisdom: - Please review Liability Release statement at THIS LINK (http://www.groupridesforum.net/pages/Liability_Release/) - Recommended Reading: THE PACE (http://www.rka-luggage.com/A17%20The%20Pace/the%20pace%202.pdf)By Nick Lenatsch. - Proper gear, a working machine and gas in the tank is highly recommended. - Ensure you and your motorcycle are in good working conditions. - Ride within your comfort zone and leave room for bad karma. - Ride staggered in straights. In twisties single file and 2-3+ seconds apart. - Lead may pass slower traffic when it's safe. You don't have to. Remember, someone will wait for you at turns, so just relax and have fun. - Leads will maintain The Pace according to road conditions with safety of all riders in mind. Be mindful of others in the group. Let faster riders get ahead of you by moving to the right and signaling them to pass you. And if you want to pass the rider(s) who are in front of you, make sure to do so safely and without startling them. - Do not make unsafe passes, or pass from the right. - When we stop at gas stations, fill up. That may be the only gas stop of the ride. - If you need to leave early, be sure to tell the lead and sweep. Be in the back of the group when leaving so no one follows. - It's a good idea to have road side emergency and towing service membership (e.g., AAA). Or call Ambroz Towz @ (510)[masked] for moto tow with care. - Getting a flat tire in not uncommon. Carry "Stop & Go" tire repair kit. GroupRides gets a group discount. • Twisty Galore, 08/18 @ 9AM, Half Moon Bay
PLEASE READ, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: THIS RIDE IS FOR EXPERIENCED RIDERS ONLY! The pace of the ride has changed from intermediate to MELLOW. That is because of the EXTREME TIGHT TURNS AND VERY NARROW ROADS! Lobitos and Tunitas Creek and Mountain Charlie Road are EXTREMELY NARROW AND HAVE HAIRPIN TURNS one after another. Please use Google Maps or Google Earth to review the roads and use your judgement to determine if you like to join the ride. Let's meet at the HMB Coffee Co. at 9AM, KSU 9:30. From there we will go south through all the super awesome twisties to Foster's in Boulder Creek for lunch (ice cream is acceptable for lunch). The ride will continue after lunch, most likely ending at Four Corners. The end destination may change! Roads include Higgins, Lobitos Creek, Tunitas Creek, Alpine and 236 before lunch. Still working on the route for the second half of the day. Please check for the weather, it may be still pretty hot. Bring water and a snack for breaks. Please arrive with a full tank of gas. Route after lunch will include Mountain Charlie Road, Felton and Empire Grade. - Not newbie friendly! - Speed MELLOW
