I hope to learn best practices, help others and have fun!
See question one. Yes.
I'm excited about being in the 2014 class of the Master Gardeners. I have a garden plot named Gertrude at the Worthington Community Center.
This group is for those who want to grow their own food and/or grow food in community settings. Members can grow raised beds, square-foot or container. It is so wonderful to grow what you eat.
My wish list for activities include:
Group seed ordering
Tour of Franklin Park Scott's Community Garden campus
Rental of raised garden beds to meet-up members
Discount on local classes
Tours and lessons at local community gardens
Speakers from Clintonville Farmers Market, Master Gardeners, Local Matters, American Community Gardening, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Clintonville Community Market and others.
Produce sharing and recipe and meal gatherings- family style gatherings
Volunteer opportunities at community gardens, Food Bank, Clintonville-Beechwald Community Center
Movie nights showing films on healthy gardening and eating
Private tour of the Topiary Garden in downtown Columbus
Access to free plants donated by a local nursery, both veggie and pollinator plants
