How to eat and preserve what you grow

This will be a show and tell and micro-potluck (sampling) Meetup. I'll be bringing and demonstrating several gadgets that I use to prepare what I've grown for eating and preserve my excess food for eating later. I'll also bring some prepared items for everyone to sample. I'd like to encourage others to bring their gadgets and food samples as well.

Below are some things I'm planning on bringing. You'll notice that some are quite common and others not so much.

The list includes:

Ceramic knives, spiral slicer(s), mandolin, salad spinner, blender for smoothies, juicer, citrus juicer, dehydrator, canning/pickling, etc. (Even though I freeze a lot too, I'll leave the freezer at home.)

Great presentation. Lots of information and resources that were new to me. I especially enjoyed learning about the Aggregate Nutrient Density Index (ANDI). I will definitely access this index more often now when planning my menus. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

Very informative! Greg goes to a lot of trouble to bring us great information. His guest, Myra added even more information. It was nice to see her, too.

Start your spring and summer seeds indoors now. That way, when spring hits they are ready to transplant. Find friends that are planting something different than you. That way you can trade, and not have to buy it at the store. Example: You grow bell peppers and ask a friend to grow cucumbers.

I'd like to learn about composting and when is the optimal time to plant seeds and plants.
