On the Harbour, Bristol
Inspired to have your own big adventure but not sure where to start? Join us on a unique weekend course covering everything you need to imagine, plan, resource, fund, realise and enjoy an ambitious independent trip.
Join other like-minded people on a 2 day course learning how to put your adventure ideas into practice. The course is designed to be a launch pad. We hope by the end of the weekend you’ll have a clear goal, draft plan of action and the knowledge of how to realise the rest of your challenge or expedition whether it’s in the UK or overseas.
Tailored tuition will be in small groups from experienced instructors. The main instructor is Guinness World Record holding explorer Belinda Kirk who has been leading and managing expeditions and teaching expedition skills for over 20 years. She has helped teams of all ages and abilities to achieve their very different goals including individuals planning their first big adventure, larger youth development and personal development expeditions, scientific study in the field and remote film-making for broadcast and online. She has planned and managed expeditions in all environments including jungle, desert, mountain, polar and at sea. During the weekend we will be joined by other experienced expedition leaders and adventurers who will share their knowledge (for those who book early enough these experts can be chosen to match your specific requirements – please ask - we have access to a huge community of experienced adventurers)
We believe that immersion with people in the same position as you and those with years of experience will not only inspire you but enable you to gather all the tools you need to achieve your specific mission. Each course is followed up by support from your peers and the lead instructor in the following months. We want you to succeed and we want to celebrate with you when you do.
Elements of the course are tailored to your specific needs but the major areas the course will cover will be:
• Ideation – identifying and clarifying your big adventure idea
• Adventure & Expedition Planning
• Finding team-mates, supporters and advisors
• Accessing the resources available to you
• Funding options
• Recording your expedition (film, online and photography)
• Connecting to the media
• Meeting others in your position
No prior experience is necessary but if you have carried out a big trip in the past and are interested in learning more or moving into a new environment get in touch and we can discuss the suitability of the course.
When and Where?
Course runs from 9am - 4.30pm Saturday and Sunday 11th & 12th March. The course venue is in Bristol.
