A toastmaster meeting consists of three phases:
Prepared Speeches: In this session, members of the club deliver prepared speeches. These speeches are based on one of the themes like body language, voice tonality etc. that allows the speaker to focus on developing a particular speaking skill. Advanced speeches address story telling, presentation skills, sales, management speeches, humorous speeches etc. This session is conducted by the Toastmaster of the Day.Table Topics: This session provides the speaker an opportunity to learn to deliver impromptu talks. The speaker is provided with a topic on the spot by the Table Topics Master and the speaker has to speak on that topic.Evaluation: All the activities of a meeting are evaluated eg. speeches, time keeping, conduct of members, grammatical usage, awkward sounds in speeches such as filler words etc. Feedback entails both the positives and the areas of improvement in a demonstrative and friendly manner.
