JavaScript and Hexo: Dynamic Meets Static

• 6:30 PM
• Building 100
• Room 701
• Gwinnett Tech

Our speaker, Shawn, is ill and will not be able to speak tonight, so we will be substituting a different talk!

In this talk we'll take a look at using the static website generator Hexo (which is itself a Node.js app) in combination with JavaScript so that we can make site that is made up of completely static HTML files on the server that behaves dynamically thanks to client side JavaScript that can make AJAX/REST calls back to various servers.

This gives us some really fast load times and the feeling of a fully dynamic site.

As we'll discuss this approach is NOT a general purpose way to build all websites, but for those cases where it works it is really sweet!

Our speaker is GGMUG president and Filler-In-In-Chief, Jeff Ammons.

Jeff is CEO and Chief Instructor for Code Career Academy, an immersive coding school right here in Gwinnett County that teaches C#, .Net, JavaScript and SQL.

Hey! Please vote for Jeff's company for a Best of Gwinnett Award! The link to vote is:

Note: Shawn is going to reschedule for some time next year to give this talk for us, so don't despair!
