Had such a great time yesterday! Thanks so much, Paul. Really nice way to spend the holiday. Hike and eats & drinks hit the spot, and really nice group of people.

Our first annual hike to the fireworks was fun! We hiked 5+ Miles on Mt Misery..then some of us hiked The Chester Valley Trail over to McKenzies Brew Pub...another group drove over to meet us there. A total of 26 hikers hung out on McKenzies patio for some good food and drinks. The fireworks started a little earlier than expected... but were pretty good...and finally, a bunch of us did a really nice half-moon, firefly-lit night hike back on The Chester Valley Trail to the cars.

For those that hiked over to McKenzies and back...we got in our original goal of 10+ miles.

Next year I'll know to start The Hike To The Fireworks a bit earlier in the day...but all in all...this was a fun meetup.

Thanks to El Jefe (Jeff) for sweeping. Welcome to all the new members! And of course thank you to everyone for coming out to enjoy Independence Day with us! Hope to see you all soon! Whaaahooo! :)

What entrance of the park we will meet? It has at least two I know of.

Hi Marta, We're meeting near the location of the fireworks in Chesterbrook and then hiking into Valley Forge Park from there and then returning to that starting point to watch the fireworks.

Hi All, Since we're hiking later in the day closer to the time of the fireworks display I've decided to skip the the July 4th BBQ in Valley Forge Park. It's being held over at the Visitor Center which is on the other side of the park and out of our way.

Also, after we finish the Valley Forge Hike I do plan to hike over to The Black Powder Tavern and/or McKenzies Brew Pub to hang out on their patio. This is completely optional.

The Free Concert and Festivities At Wilson Farm Park begins at 7:00 pm and the fireworks are scheduled to begin around dusk. For those staying for the fireworks...remember those lawn chairs and blankets. :)

So I guess my dog is out, unless the tavern/pub allow dogs on the patio. : (
