Let's explore! The Iron Horse Trail is 9.1 miles and the Tunnel Trail is 1.8 miles. Combining the two presents a 10.3 mile hike.
This hike is considered long and strenuous.
We will pass through the Tuscarora State Forrest and see railroad history. The Tunnel Trail leads to the abandoned railroad tunnel and descends toward Big Spring Run. This hike can be divided into two hikes.
Please share your comments if you are interested in the lesser mileage.
Good sturdy shoes are needed on this trail. Bring snack, lunch, water and wear appropriate clothing.

Meet in the Hemlock Road parking lot.

Hi Traci, I offer greetings and assistance from the H3O Global World Headquarters! ;) I fixed your Meetup posting's Google Map coordinates and dropped a pin on the exact location of the Trail Head parking lot on Hemlock Road. I suggest everyone try it out on their phones or Google Maps on their computers to make sure it's working properly. From the meetup posting, tap the little blue arrow sign icon at lower right corner of the map image and your Google Maps navigation app should launch directions right to the Hemlock Road parking lot.

Can anyone fix the link for directions to the trailhead or post cut and paste able God coordinates. This is still mapping to New Jersey.

Did you put in the coordinates at the bottom of the post?

      December 1

    • Traci

Type in the coordinates. It takes you to Big Spring Road and Hemlock. Don't click on it. Type it in Google Maps. That's the best I can do. I got the coordinates out of a hiking book. 60 Hikes within 60 Miles of Harrisburg.

I put in Big Spring State Forest Picnic Area. That takes me to Blain PA 17006 which is right at Hemlock Rd & Big Spring Rd. Is this correct?
    Thanks!
