2012 Ratha Yatra, festival of chariots. July 28 from 11am to 6pm in Port Royal Pa.
I have attended this event in past years. The event is a wonderful cultural experience, one of the many Hindu spiritual traditions. When you enter the 350 acre organic farm it feels like you just got off the air plane in India. If you always wanted to go to India but could not arrange it. This is your event. There is a large Hindu temple with traditional Indian music, dance, food, wares and rituals. You can go to the web site www.gitanagari.org or google Gita nagari for ytube and lots of information about the organic farm and Hindu temple.
I would like to introduce this event and help organize our meetup group, if anyone is interested in attending. You can drive separately or if someone in the group would like to organize a carpool. I will arrange a private introduction for our meetup group with one of the temple members to explain about the Hindu tradition and this event. It is very interesting with much to learn.
We will meet at the large outdoor stage at 10:30am for the intro.
It is in Port Royal Pa. About 1hr 15min or 55 mile drive from Harrisburg Pa. Check web site for directions.
