Hacks & Hackers this Thursday at the Spa at 500

We have 10 people signed up to meet this Thursday, March 7 from 6-8, so let's do this. If you want to come and haven't RSVP'd, we'd love to see you there.

The meetup will be hosted by Ed Griffin-Nolan at the Spa at 500, which is at 500 West Onondaga Street. Here are some directions from Ed:

"From 81, take Harrison and follow the directions listed above. From 690, take West St. exit, turn right when West St. ends; Spa is the third building on your right."Or use this link to ye olde Google maps: http://bit.ly/Xool2s...

The agenda is open, but I would like to use some of the time to talk about how we can leverage the Sunlight Foundation's new municipal focus to do a Syracuse Open Gov event and hackathon. Sunlight has told me they can cover the cost of such at an event at around $250 and be listed as an official sponsor, which will give it more credibility.

They can also give us a rundown of their open data resources and APIs, and depending on the scale of the event they may be able to attend to help out. But first we need to make a plan and figure out what we want to do.

To think about on your end: what officials from local government (city, town, county, Centro) should we invite? And what about local media? We need to make a list of technology influencers within local government, get in touch with them and find out what their plans are now and see if they'd like to participate.

If you have other big topics to discuss, please post a note in the Meetup discussion board or Google group/ (And belated apologies if I took too long to approve your membership in Google.)
