Meet at 9 a.m. to caravan via the Mohave National Preserve to wide-open BLM land near the remote desert town of Shoshone. Area known as Greenwater Valley. No fee. Warm days and cool nites this time of year. Borders Death Valley National Park. Return to Joshua Tree on Thursday the 26th. 2-nites of camping. Hike on Wednesday the 25th. Minimal elevation gain. Bring all food and liquids you will need for yourself (and a chair). There will be a rock campfire and grill if you want to cook something. No facilities. Suggest a "porta-potty", available at sporting goods or marine supply stores. I will bring all firewood for 2-nites plus camp tables. Travel time to camp is approx. 4-hours; 200 miles. There is gas available in Baker, CA and Shoshone. This is beautiful and remote Mohave Desert near Shoshone (pop. 50) where I lived for 3-years. Clear, clean air; bright stars in the very dark sky.
