Hi everyone,

I think you may find this newsletter useful. It's from Ms. Kristin Lowe, our next guest speaker. Organising Solutions is offering courses on personal productivity and other areas that may help you improve your work and life. By the way, you may use the discount code: TT09 when you register for the courses to receive a special 10% discount. The code is valid for all the courses from Organising Solutions, so check them out, or pass on to your friends and associates.

The other piece of news that I'd like to share with you is that Prof. John Nash is going to visit Hong Kong next week and there is a public session held at PolyU on April 9, 2009. If you have watched the movie, A Beautiful Mind, you must have heard of Prof. John Nash.

Note From Kristin: Are you OK with what you're NOT doing?

Dear Terry,

Well, this issue is late. How do I feel about that? Not great. However, I do feel great about the other things I was working on...so it's always a trade-off.

One of the results of Calm Control is getting a sense of clarity about where to focus our efforts - and peace about where we're NOT focusing. There will always be too many good things vying for our limited time and attention. The trick is to choose wisely, work efficiently and ditch the guilt.

So, what was I working on? Personally: fighting a horrible cold that lasted 10 days, plus single-parenting our 3 young children while my husband was away. Professionally: a bunch of new courses for you (including the TechLabs you've asked for), a better online registration system, and an improved layout for this Ezine. Check it out, and please let me know what you think!

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Warm regards,

Kristin Lowe, CNO

Feature Article: Emergency Room Email Lessons

Let's say there's been a massive traffic accident on a highway near you.

Within minutes, the emergency room reception area of the nearest major hospital is packed with over 100 victims, all in varying states of need, all expecting to receive near-immediate attention. The emergency room nurses spring into action.

Question: What's the first thing they do?

Answer: They apply a process called triage.

Definition: Triage is the sorting of, and allocation of, treatment to patients, especially battle and disaster victims, according to a proven system of priorities designed to maximise the number of survivors.

Application: What's this got to do with email? It's a near-perfect metaphor, actually. Read on to see how a triage approach to managing your inbox will add hours to your week and minimise email stress.

What Our Clients Say: Recent Testimonials

Comments on Personal Productivity Basics:

"It's amazing how in only 1 hour, Kristin is able to help you pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses in organisational skills and guide you to make a commitment to change starting within days of this lunch session."

Juli Batten - Speech Solutions

Comments on the Calm Control Personal Productivity Workshop:

"Before taking this course I was actually feeling at the end of my tether!! I felt in a constant state of confusion and that I was really not going anywhere fast. I was constantly worried that I would forget things and often did not deal with things until literally the last minute. I always got things done but definitely not in a timely manner. My workspace was a mess (an organised mess, but still a mess). I could find things, but no one else could. I felt constantly stressed by looking at it. The workshop gave me the tools and set my mind straight on how to use those tools effectively. I have cleared my mind of the clutter! I have realised that trying to leave work early is not a bad thing, and I am not worrying about forgetting things. My email box is close to empty. I am spending more time exercising, and I am happy for it!!"

About This Ezine

This electronic magazine is published monthly and sent to people who have signed up for it.

We do this for a few reasons:

  • To provide you with practical, immediately applicable productivity strategies.
  • To give you quick and easy access to articles, podcasts and other resources reserved for our subscribers.
  • To keep you updated on course offerings and special offers.
  • To let you know about useful services and products offered by our partners.

This Ezine is called Smart Shortcuts: Life Hacks and Living Right.

What's a Life Hack? We say it's "a cool idea that makes life easier." To get a bit more official about it, Wikipedia says a Life Hack is anything that solves an everyday problem in a clever or non-obvious way - ideal for those who suffer from information overload or have a "playful curiosity in the ways they can overclock their workflow." Sound like you? Then you're in the right place.

What's Living Right? Well, that's really up to you, isn't it? Our job is just to help you create more time to do it.
