Pico Duarte at 10,128 feet is the highest peak in all the Caribbean islands. Climbing Pico Duarte has the potential to be an epic experience and one you will remember all of your life. It is an extremely challenging trail, with incredible views and potentially ever-changing weather. It is a 16-mile very strenuous hike. The government doesn't allow visitors to hike this mountain without a guide.
The first day you will hike 12 miles and climb 5900 vertical ft. The second day you will hike 17 miles and climb 3900ft (2000+ to the summit and 1500+ up and down on the return trip. If you choose the 3 day option you will hike the same amount on the first day. The second day will only be 5 miles and 2000+ verticla ft. and the final day will be 12 miles and 1500 + vertical feet.

• Day 1: Flight into Santiago International Airport and drive up to Jarabacoa and find a local guide and work out a hiking itinerary for the following morning.
• Day 2: Drive up to the most direct approach to Pico Duarte and hike to the first campsite, La Comparticion. we want to hike a 10-12 miles 5000 feet of vertical the first day. if we want to see the Sunset at Pico Duarte we can push and summit the same day for a total of
• Day 3: Make summit and hike back to trailhead and head to Sosua /Cabarete.
